On June 6, 2024, in response to an application submitted by the Aluminum Foil Container Manufacturers Association and its member companies on May 16, 2024, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced the initiation of anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigations on disposable aluminum containers, pans, trays, and lids imported from China. This case involves products under the U.S. customs code 7615.10.7125. The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) is expected to make a preliminary ruling on industry damage in this case by July 1, 2024 at the latest. If the U.S. International Trade Commission determines that the import of the products involved has caused substantial damage or a threat of substantial damage to the U.S. domestic industry, the U.S. Department of Commerce will continue to investigate this case and is expected to make a preliminary countervailing duty ruling on August 9, 2024 and a preliminary antidumping ruling on October 23, 2024.
According to US statistics, the amount of investigated products imported by the United States from China in 2023 was approximately US$90.15 million.
